The Association for Clinical Genetic Science was established in December 2012 from a merger of the Association for Clinical Cytogenetics and the Clinical Molecular Genetics Society with the vision of bringing together scientists working within genetics into one professional association.

    Following on from the recent "Variant Re-classification" meeting held in London in June and much recent discussion on the need for increased standardisation and consistency in interpretation and classification of all genomic variants, particularly in the context of Rare Disease, the BSGM (including representation from all constituent groups) and the Validation and Feedback core RD_GeCIP (established for advising on clinical reporting as part the 100,000 genomes project) are holding a workshop to reach a national consensus to drive revision and establishment of existing and new guidelines  in Clinical Genomics.

    Congratulations to Angela Douglas MBE

    Congratulations to Angela Douglas on receiving her MBE in the Queen's recent birthday honours for services to Research and student mentoring. Angela is Scientific Director in the Genetics department at Liverpool Women's Hospital and was the first Chair of this Association. Angela has also been Chair of the British Society for Genetic Medicine and is currently Chair of the Royal College of Pathologists Genetics and Embryology Specialty Advisory Committee.
